A goods train rammed into a stationary freight train in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur on Tuesday, leaving a loco pilot injured and disrupting services on the stretch for hours.
The moving freight train collided with the stationary one from behind on the Dedicated Freight Corridor, resulting in the derailment of the engine of one train and the guard’s coach of the other.
It is believed that the loco pilot fell asleep at the wheel.
A massive restoration effort continued for hours, and a railway pole broke during the removal of the derailed engine, temporarily disrupting the restoration work. The Indian Army personnel also joined the operations.
Numerous goods trains have been halted on both the up and down tracks.
Officials expect services on the Dedicated Freight Corridor to be restored by Wednesday.
