Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway, provided details on the ongoing investigation into the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday. “Our preliminary findings indicate that the incident was triggered when a passenger slipped on the foot overbridge between platforms 14 and 15, leading to a chain reaction where many others were affected. A high-level committee has now been formed to thoroughly investigate the matter,” he stated. He further clarified, “No trains were canceled, no schedules were altered, and no platforms were changed. In fact, additional special trains were introduced to manage the crowd. The rush was normal, and the unfortunate incident occurred only after a passenger lost their footing on the bridge. The situation is now completely under control, and train operations are running smoothly.”
