A fire broke out in 15 tents at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on Thursday morning, officials said. No casualties have been reported so far due to the fire.
An official from the fire department was quoted as saying by news agency ANI that although the fire tenders faced difficulty in reaching the tents as there were no access roads, they were able to put out the fire in time and no casualties or injuries have been reported.
This incident comes a day after 30 people were killed in a pre-dawn stampede in the Sangam area on Wednesday.
A total of 30 people were killed and over 60 were injured as millions of devotees jostled for space to take a holy dip on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya (new moon) at the Maha Kumbh on Wednesday.
