A 49-year-old man ex-Air Force personnel jumped onto the tracks at Bengaluru’s Jalahalli Metro Station today at around 10.25 am, as a train was approaching.
The Emergency Trip System (ETS) was immediately activated, and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) staff quickly rescued the man, Anil Pandey, from the tracks.
Preliminary reports indicate no injuries. Metro services on the Green Line were restored to normal by 10.50 am.
During the disruption, four trains were operated in a short loop between Yeshwanthpur and Silk Institute, bypassing Madhavara Metro Station from 10.25 am to 10.50 am.
Pandey’s motive to jump on the tracks was not known yet, nevertheless the police had been involved.
A similar incident occurred in September 2024, when a 30-year-old man jumped on the track in front of an incoming train at Jnanabharathi metro station in western Bengaluru, briefly disrupting services on Namma Metro’s Purple Line.
The metro staff acted swiftly and used the Emergency Trip System (ETS) to rescue Siddharth, a native of Bihar, officials said. No injuries were reported, according to preliminary information.
