At least 18 people, including children and women, were killed in a stampede in the New Delhi Railway Station due to overcrowding of passengers on Saturday night.
When India Today asked a coach attendant about overcrowding on the Prayagraj Express, Bhagat said that this was the third instance of overcrowding he has witnessed since Kumbh started. When asked about whether people are boarding the train without tickets, Bhagar said “If there are seats reserved for only 4 people, 80 people are boarding, even the 2AC and 3AC compartments”
When asked about crowd management, Bhagat said that trains are going unchecked. We call RPF, but they don’t go anywhere.”
