Tamil Nadu Law Minister and senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader S Reghupathy welcomed the India Today Mood of the Nation survey results for the state.
According to the MOTN survey, if Lok Sabha elections were to be held again today, Tamil Nadu would still vote for DMK-Congress alliance.
“The survey reflects the feelings of the people of Tamil Nadu. It shows that DMK will win in all parliamentary constituencies. In the last elections we got 47 per cent, and now it has increased to 52 per cent. It shows that reception has increased for the ruling party and our leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin,” Regupathy said.
He also stated that as the vote share percentage for the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) percentage has come down, it showed that AIADMK has weakened now.
“All reactions are acceptable only. We will try to improve our vote bank from 52 to 55 per cent to achieve our target of 200 seats,” the minister said.
However, he denied that weakening of the AIADMK meant that BJP was becoming stronger. Regupathy said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not become stronger in the Assembly elections as the people would not support the BJP. He predicted that the newly floated party by actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), would get even lesser vote percentage. “They will get the minimum number of votes. Fans will vote for them so they will get a minimum number,” the minister said.
The India Today-Cvoter Mood of the Nation (MOTN) poll was conducted between January 2 and February 9, 2025, surveying 125,123 individuals across all Lok Sabha segments. The survey included fresh interviews as well as long-term tracking data.
