A senior police officer from Gujarat has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, becoming the first IPS officer from the state to do so. Harresh Dudhat hoisted the Indian flag and the Gujarat Police flag at the summit, which is the highest peak in Africa.
Dudhat, who is currently serving in the State Intelligence Bureau, completed the climb in Tanzania. He reached an altitude of 17,000 feet. He regularly participates in mountaineering and trekking.
In 2024, he attempted to climb Mount Everest but could not go beyond the base camp. He has also completed the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra twice.
Speaking about the feat, Dudhat said, “I had decided earlier that on the 76th Republic Day of India, I would hoist the national flag on Mount Kilimanjaro.” He described the final 12 hours of the climb as difficult due to snowfall, which created obstacles. “Despite the challenges, I reached the summit,” he said.
Dudhat has now set his sights on Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. His achievement has brought recognition to the Gujarat Police and has inspired other officers.
