Veteran batsman AB de Villiers of South Africa and Royal Challengers Bangalore has forecast the victor of the 16th installment of the Indian Premier League, and it’s not RCB.
AB de Villers, who was recently admitted into the “RCB Hall of Fame,” stated that although he really wanted RCB to win the championship this year, he thinks the Gujarat Titans, headed by Hardik Pandya, have what it takes to take the league.
“Very challenging. Long ago, during the IPL sale, I predicted that Gujarat Titans would win consecutive championships. Despite the fact that I really want RCB to triumph, I’m going to adhere to that.
I’ve thought they have a really excellent, very well-balanced squad since last year. They have sufficient authority. Hopefully, RCB wins the championship, said AB de Villiers to NDTV.
When questioned what differences he’s seen in former RCB captain Virat Kohli recently, he responded that the latter has become more laid-back since giving up his captaincy of both the RCB and India.
I believe a major part of him unwinding last season was giving up the leadership. He was a great skipper, but it can be intimidating to play for a long time in both the IPL and on the world stage. You never have free time to relax, spend time with family, or joke with pals. This season, I believe that has been his guiding principle: “Just go out and have fun, keep smiling,” AB de Villers said.
“I have not noticed many changes; everything remains the same. He appears to have decent form and excellent equilibrium at the crease. He continues to be that energetic, “busy” performer at the wicket.
“I just think he entered this season looking really new. I have observed him chuckling more than ever in some of his appearances,” he continued.
Virat Kohli’s undefeated 82-run innings helped RCB defeat Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians by eight wickets in their season debut. For their second game of the year, they take on Kolkata Knight Riders tonight at Eden Gardens.
